David Tandberg, Vice President of Policy Research and Strategic Initiatives at SHEEO, has interests that center on state higher education policy, finance, politics, governance and economics. Tandberg is particularly interested in evaluating state policies meant to increase student access and success in higher education. His research has appeared in The Journal of Higher Education, Research in Higher Education, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Educational Policy, Higher Education in Review, The Journal of Education Finance, and Higher Education: The Handbook of Theory and Research, among other outlets. He serves as an associate editor of Educational Researcher and on the editorial boards of The Journal of Higher Education and The Journal of Education Finance. Previously, Tandberg served as an associate professor of higher education and an associate director of the Center for Postsecondary Success at Florida State University. Before that, he served as a special assistant to the secretary of education in the Pennsylvania Department of Education, focused on postsecondary policy development and implementation. Tandberg earned a B.A. in history and government and secondary education/social studies from Adams State College, and a master's in political science and a Ph.D. in higher education from Penn State University.
