Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs
The Vice President serves as the Arizona Board of Regents counterpart to the university chief academic officers, works in collaboration with senior university officials and has responsibility for developing and implementing comprehensive academic reporting and accountability mechanisms for the Arizona University System.
This position works directly with the board, board president, and senior university representatives on academic issues. Develops and leads a collaborative team with the university chief academic officers and supports the universities in achieving their missions and individual goals. Develops academic policies and procedures for the Arizona University System. Presents agenda materials to the board. Serves as the principal board office representative for the board’s academic and student affairs committee, academic strategic planning, and development of academic goals and metrics. Oversees system-wide analyses of academic issues, including K-12 and community college pipeline and transfer issues. Leads a team responsible for analyzing and reporting on academic affairs and makes recommendations for improvements. Serves as an appropriate liaison with various state and national organizations, including K-12 and community colleges, as assigned by the Board President.
Minimum qualifications include: Masters or doctoral degree plus ten years progressively responsible experience in higher education administration or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been achieved.
Advanced degree and higher education experience is preferred. Higher education academic affairs administration experience desirable. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership capabilities, strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
