Multi-State Collaborative to Advance Quality Student Learning—the "MSC"

In November 2017, the MSC project teamed up with the AAC&U/Indiana University VALUE Institute in order to continue, promote, and more efficiently support the advancement of quality learning outcomes assessment.

Overview of the Multi-State Collaborative to Advance Quality Student Learning (MSC) Consortium at the VALUE Institute

The SHEEO MSC Consortium of the VALUE Institute is a voluntary effort and there is no additional cost to participate. (The VALUE Institute has its own fee structure.)

The MSC is a proven model based on five years of development and refinement, resulting in valid assessment of authentic student work and reliable scoring methods for program evaluation and assessment.

As a participating member of the SHEEO MSC consortium, you will have all the benefits offered through the VALUE Institute, in addition to:

• Aggregate state-level and project-level reporting of student learning outcomes
• More opportunity to network and engage with faculty within and beyond your institution
• Enhanced ability to inform state policy discussion related to quality student learning, equity, and assessment
• Assistance with project coordination with your MSC state lead
• Access to a comparison pool of authentic student work, at institution and state levels
• State representation and input during continuous improvement discussions

Requirements to join

• Public institutions of higher education data to be disaggregated by institutional type (two-year and four-year)
• VALUE Institute registration fee (https://www.aacu.org/VALUEInstitute)
