SHEEO is pleased to share the Adult Promise Program: A Pilot Design Template for States that represents the culmination of a Lumina Foundation grant we undertook in 2016 to assess the feasibility of promise-type aid programs geared towards adult students.
The bulk of the information included in this document comes out of a two-day meeting we held at the SHEEO offices in May of this year and subsequent site visits to our potential pilot states: Washington, Virginia, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Maine. It provides a framework for thinking through how to design a more specific adult-focused promise program as well as discussion on the necessary supports needed to support non-traditional, adult students succeed in postsecondary education.
Andy Carlson managed this project for SHEEO and Sophia Laderman, Denise Pearson, and Christina Whitfield contributed significantly to the project.
