The State Higher Education Executive Officers is pleased to announce the SHEEO Higher Education Policy Conference (formerly known as the SHEEO Professional Development Conference).

This annual professional conference is a forum for collaborative discussion and networking by the nation’s higher education policy leaders.  Designed by the SHEEO community, plenary and breakout sessions address critical, cross-cutting topics and issues on national and state higher education policy agendas.

Sessions are assembled by state higher education academic, finance, government relations, communications, and chief information officers, who face increasingly interrelated policy issues that require airing and discussion at the national level. Topics for this year’s Conference include:

• Improving students' preparation, access, and success in higher education
• Expanding opportunities for education and training of adult learners in all sectors of
  higher education
• Ensuring that investments in higher education contribute to state-level economic growth
  and development
• Using financing and accountability to promote productivity and effectiveness in
  higher education
• Providing a federal update and national policy discussion in the context of an election year
• Learning from major foundation-funded initiatives including the American Diploma Project, Making Opportunity Affordable and other national reform efforts
• Keeping pace with global competition in higher education
