Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Kansas Board of Regents

The Kansas Board of Regents invites nominations and applications for highly qualified applicants to fill the position of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The nine-member Kansas Board of Regents is the governing board of the state’s six universities and the statewide coordinating board for the state’s 32 public higher education institutions (six state universities, one municipal university, nineteen community colleges, and six technical colleges).

The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the Board’s chief academic officer and reports directly to its President/CEO.  In that capacity, the Vice President provides overall leadership and management regarding academic matters for the state’s system of postsecondary education, and serves as the key academic policy advisor for the Kansas Board of Regents and its President/CEO.  The Vice President serves as a member of the President/CEO’s senior staff, and also supervises a staff of approximately thirteen.  The successful candidate will be an intellectual leader who holds a doctoral degree from an accredited institution, and understands the broad array of critical issues confronting public higher education – both in Kansas, and nationally.  The candidate will also possess at least five years of effective academic leadership and management experience in a higher education setting.  The ideal candidate will present relevant experience with both two-year and four-year institutions.  A well-developed set of communications (oral and written), analytical, and interpersonal skills is essential. 
Experience with the legislative process and in working within the framework of a board structure is among the preferred qualifications for the position.  This leader must be an effective consensus builder.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Salary range is $120,000 to $135,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
