The Compact seeks a visionary, energetic, and transformative leader who is an outstanding communicator, committed to collaboration and innovation. The successful candidate must be open to new ideas and demonstrate experience, knowledge, and success in the arenas of both state government and higher education and familiarity with their respective issues, constraints, challenges, and opportunities. Good political instincts as well as experience in leading change are highly valued. The president must be willing and able to travel frequently throughout the states, be comfortable initiating new relationships, and promote effortlessly the work and value of the Compact to many constituents.
