Policy Analyst / Senior Policy Analyst Position

SHEEO is seeking a talented professional to do research and analysis on state higher education public policy, including projects on finance, data systems, student success, accountability, and related issues.

The Policy Analyst / Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for working with SHEEO staff and state higher education policy and data professionals to support capacity building initiatives such as: enhanced data and policy analysis for decision making; developing and expanding state data systems to enhance state policy development; and financial data resources.

SHEEO seeks candidates with experience and analytical expertise in one or more of these policy areas who can write clearly and concisely for a variety of publications; grasp and convey detailed and complex information to non-technical audiences; review and edit skillfully the written work of other professionals; assist in planning and conducting state, regional, and national meetings; make presentations on substantive issues at policy conferences; and assist in answering information requests and providing other state services. Candidates with significant experience in relevant policy areas and data management are preferred. Experience with SAS is highly desirable. Occasional national travel may be required.

Minimum qualifications include an advanced degree in a relevant field plus five years of progressive work experience involving postsecondary education, governmental finance, data systems, and NCES data and reports. A combination of more substantial experience and/or educational achievement may qualify candidates for the title, Senior Policy Analyst, with concomitant responsibilities and compensation.
